Solar Electricity/Photovoltaics OnLine Project.
Students from Abbeydale Grange, High Storrs, Silverdale and Yewlands Secondary in Sheffield and from Twyford High School, Bishop Ward and Bishop Ramsey in London devised and conducted experiments on generating electricity from the sun. They sharined infomation over the Internet via the Energy Net Project.
Introduction to the partners
The Schools & Homes Energy Education Project in partnership with the Solar Trust For Education and Research and Schools OnLine Science facilitated a number of secondary schools in the UK (initially in Sheffield and London) to work within the Energy and Environment sections of the international Energy Net project.
Background to Energy Net
Every year since 1993 the Laboratorio Dell'Immaninario Scientifico (LIS) has undertaken educational telematics projects on specific interdisciplinary subjects suitable for joint research work and discussion. Last year's project was Drug Net, on drugs and drug abuse. In 1996 was on Energy. LIS loped a model for collaborative education which can be repeated on the Internet, involving a greater number of schools.
